Meeting Airplane

code

--test mode: the plane tows a meeting banner across the screen, over every window.

Problem

Calendar pop-ups in a screen corner are easy to miss when you’re deep in a full-screen window.

What I did

I wrote a Swift background agent that reads meetings from the macOS Calendar app through EventKit (where the Outlook account already lives), so there’s no API key, OAuth or server. Every 30 seconds it checks the next two hours; five minutes before a meeting it flies a plane with a banner showing the meeting title across a transparent, click-through window above everything, full-screen apps included. Alerts are de-duplicated per occurrence, so each recurring meeting fires exactly once. One-command install with launchd, and no Dock or menu-bar icon.

Result

A reminder that’s hard to miss and never gets in the way: clicks pass straight through.
